“Who do you admire most?” I heard Jim Carrey answer this question once. From that point forward, it became my answer too: “My Future Self.” Wow.
In that simple phrase, I stepped through a reality bubble that gave me profound clarity AND responsibility.
When I look at the etymology of the word virtue, the word worth stands out. As I played around with saying the two together, I could feel and hear how similar they are phonetically (if that is the proper term for that observation). They sound especially similar with a German accent!
I can absolutely, positively, without question affirm that the simple practice of Systemic Virtue will strengthen your appreciation of your own worth on this Earth. As self worth grows, miracles begin to burst forth.
Virtue
Moral strength, high character, goodness, worth
The Seven Virtues
It is fair to say that virtues don’t stop at seven. These are the 7 main virtues I will dive into defining and practicing in my ongoing daily practice of “Systemic Virtue”.
I invite you to join me as I contemplate the meaning of each virtuous word and how its characteristics can - and do - come to life in our own lives.
I have “assigned” a virtue to each day of the week. I trust you will begin to appreciate how living in high character, moral strength and goodness is a systemic thing. Each virtue supports and bolsters the other like a well oiled machine. Start with one, and the cogs start turning and - like magic - we become better at being our unique and True self.
Systemic Virtue began as Love Letters to My Boys. I hope they read them. As they move through adulting, may they be better human beings than I have been. A practice of Systemic Virtue will guarantee that.
I am a work in process when it comes to living virtuously (versus virtually).
Let this be your invitation to walk with me on your own journey of self observation and take the reins on creating an increase in Self Worth..
My posts won’t be a daily thing, but there WILL be a Virtue for every day of the week that you can tap into on your own. It just may take me a little while to get each one up, so keep a look out!
Love,
Carly (Mom)
